The Mid-Autumn Festival (Moon Festival), is a traditional Chinese celebration held on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month. It marks the harvest season and is a time for family reunions and giving thanks for the bounty of the year. Celebrations often include enjoying mooncakes, a sweet pastry filled with various fillings, and admiring the full moon, symbolizing unity and prosperity.
The students honored this holiday by creating their own “no-bake mooncake”! We set up stations and they were able to create their own mooncake from scratch – from rolling the dough into a ball, stuffing it with filling, and then popping it out of the mold. Of course, their favorite part was picking their favorite design mold.
Mooncakes are popular during the Mid-Autumn Festival Holiday.
